This week i accomplished 2 of my life goals.
In case you didn't know(neither did i), i have a list of life goals!! inspired by the Degeneres Show.
One of them, is to complete a marathon, which i did, last Sunday, in i would say a decent time.
The other one that i managed to strike off my list, is to "read a copy of the Economist from cover to cover". That, i did today, during the waiting time for my combat shoot 2.
Can i just say, that i am so much prouder to have finished the latter?
I mean, there are some interesting parts to it, (like the article where the writer lambasted George Bush's inadequacies during the Annapolis Summit between Palestine and Israel, wit at its best.), and the fact that Zimbabwe's Chief statistician said that he could no longer find out the rate of inflation in his country because there is simply not enough goods left on the shelves to count. !!!!! Think about it...
Aside from that, the Economist is one of the driest reading material one can lay his hands on. i mean, i think it will emit a satisfying crunch if you step on it. All the talk about the elections in Austrailia, America, he's a liberal, she's democrat, he's tougher on foreign policy, they're rigging the elections, reforms good, reforms bad, reforms not radical enough/might as well not reform, their government is conservative liberal(huh??) Just a lot of random stuff to someone like me.
There is this whole section dedicated to the timber industry in Kansas and my goodness, my eyes were closing already. But because, i "have to" read it from cover to cover, i had to go through it, but alas, not a trace of information from that article still linger in my brain.
Furthermore, i am SO SURE that the World Health Organization is going to hire a new Director for Health Governance/Service Delivery and Aid effectivness by putting up an advertistment in the Economist. Or that the OECD (organisation for economic coorperation and development) is going to hire their CHIEF ECONOMIST from the readers of the magazine!
In case any reader's of my blog wants the job, you can email the OECD's secretary General at
secretary.general@oecd.org.
remember to send in your entries before Jan 6th 2008!!
seriously man.
However, plus point about reading the economist within army people, or people, in general, is that you will never have to experience someone borrowing it, or someone fighting over it with you. There's this guy who brought a copy of Maxim, and i tell you, the girl on the cover can very well look like Anna Nicole Smith's corpse, because there really isn't any difference. Poor chap kept have to find his mag everytime he went to the Ninja van, took a leak or looked away.
Also, because its the Economist, people will think that you're really smart! And people won't ask you to do any physical labour! e.g All i did today was to raise and lower the red and white flag to indicate whether live firing was on or off. All army boys, take note!
1 week, 2 life goals, 30 more working days..
It ain't looking so bad after all!
