Introducing my newest aquisition!!
the Crossroads MylarThree!!
I fell in love with the sound the moment i tried these on in jaben last tuesday, and i was so sad when i was told that they would only be in a week later.. So i bit my lip, grit my teeth and waited..
So this tuesday, i headed to jaben with weili, and crowded in with the crowd already waiting in the claustrophobic jaben shop, and finally got them...
Well, it didn't disappoint! here's a first look:
And here's the MylarThree with the carrying case they provided.Okay, before i start, i want you also to know that i have never ever heard of this brand before. Call, me mainstream, but, ahh well, on to the "review".
Okay! Lovely rich medium range is the first impression that one gets from this earphone. The first song that i tested with them is "These Are the Days" by Jamie Cullum. There's a different effect you hear with these little newcomers on the vocals, mainly because the recording is done on the Analogue Domain. Which gives it the warm and realistic effect. However, i never really got to hear it(pity) until now. So, YAY!
I decided then to try it on some vocals, so i played some Josh Groban "Vincent". The acoustic Guitar at the beginning again sounded a lot better, you get to hear the full motion of the strum. And the sound from each string, when plucked, somehow feels like its gotten a new, vibrant personality. Then came the vocals.... It just confirms the fact that the MylarThrees are great for the middle range. Groban's rich baritone came out very nicely.
Then i played Take Six's "Come on" and that was it for me. I knew i had to buy them. The vocal clarity that they produced was unsurpassed by any earphone i have tried before. (Yes yes, i am very subjective.) Plus, Take six is take six. So i just kept them on till i finished the whole song. :)
Haha. Then i knew that was it for me, so weili and i both placed an order for the Mylarthrees a week before it was shipped.
Then uncle wilson did something that enslaved the both of us to Crossroads. He hooked up my ipod, through the bottom line-out, to this amp.. i cant remember what was it,something like some tomahawk, or some hornet thing, and plugged the mylarthree inside. I then played James barnes, Symphonic Overture, and Goodness me, i was blown away. i stood there with my mouth open and my fingers trembling. While weili was at the side bobbing up and down on his lanky frame, eager to test it as well. I closed my eyes and i could imagine myself sitting in a concert hall hearing the exact same thing. Such realism and clarity was a definatly a first for me on a earphone.
Well, it did have its Boo Boos. i wanted to test out the bass capabilty, and it was doing well till Alvin of take 6 made it buzz in another song. I tried some other earphones around my peers, and found out that its actually pretty good compared to some of the pricier ones.
Another thing that i'm rather concerned about is the fact that the ends of the earphones look really flimsy. ya know, the red and blue thingie? yeah. We'll see...
We were also glad that these weren't as exhorbitant as the other more well known brands that we tested prior to this. $65 is a small sum to pay for such great earphones. really...... all of you should go and get it.
yup, and here it is.... by themselves,
MylarThrees on their own. The eartips are not the original ones that came with the earphone, but its the double flanged ones that uncle wilson very generously gave out to my friend and i. With it on, the body of the sound gets richer and the oh so nice mid range gets clearer considerably.
And lastly, the Mylarthrees with my ipod.Yeah, i know the Bi-Flanges are totally out of the whole colour scheme, but a small cost to bear for enhanced sound.
yup, thats it... haha.. the stock is very limited, so i suggest you people go out and get them now!
Okay, i have to go now, back to camp.. sighz..
