Yes, i am still in singapore thank you very much, my flight is in exactly 12 hours.. anyway, as i would be gone for 2 months, i thought to myself: HEY, that means i would miss Christmas, CNY* and a special person's birthday!! oh no!
so i kinda went to town ALONE for most of it to go look for stuff to buy, or get ideas of what to give for christmas and all..
as i as walking past all those malls with their shiny floors(oo0.. reflective), the marble pillars, and the boutiques, i couldnt help bt noticing that,
1. Everything is DAMN expensive....with the kind of financial status i have now... dont get me started.
My woes was further exacebated by the long long long queue i saw outside Gucci paragon.. they had to have this guard to keep people out of a Gucci store.. man.. and i am drawn to a bargain bin like a fly to a rotting piece of meat.. thats life.
and,
2. That i am totally clueless about the people that i am trying to get presents for. That i know people on such a superficial level, past their names, their main characteristics and pigeonholing them to fit certain stereotypes of people that i have in my head already, so much so that i dont realise the quirks each one of them have, the nuances that go into the friendship, the preferences of someone..
I then had an imaginary conversation with myself...
me: do i really dont know these people very well eh? i said to myself..
well, its not really your fault, people nowadays put on too many facades and try to put a brave front too much.. also, they dont wanna share so much about themselves... i replied.
i then asked: but if everyone is like that, what friends do people like us make?
crappy ones, ones that dont really care about others, one that is so self-centered and care about ME ME ME ME ME... i replied myself.
well, actually, in my opinion, despite our endless MSN contact list, the sheer number of people we say hi to in school or whatever, we are all so very lonely inside.. and i dont think there's anything we can do about it....
Just whack la..
